Lot-sizing on a single imperfect machine: ILP models and FPTAS extensions

چکیده
A single-machine multi-product lot-sizing and sequencing problem is studied. In this problem, items of n different products are manufactured in lots. Demands for products as well as per item processing times are known. There are losses of productivity because of non perfect production. There is also a sequence dependent set-up time between lots of different products. Machine yields and product lead times are assumed to be known deterministic functions. The objective is to minimize the cost of the demand dissatisfaction provided that the total processing time does not exceed a given time limit. We propose two integer linear programming (ILP) models for the NP-hard ‘‘fraction defective’’ case of this problem and compare effectiveness of their ILOG CPLEX realizations with a dynamic programming algorithm in a computer experiment. We also show how an earlier developed fully polynomial time approximation scheme (FPTAS) and one of the ILP models can be extended for a more complex case. 2013 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

An approximation algorithm and FPTAS for Tardy/Lost minimization with common due dates on a single machine
This paper addresses the Tardy/Lost penalty minimization with common due dates on a single machine. According to this performance measure, if the tardiness of a job exceeds a predefined value, the job will be lost and penalized by a fixed value. Initially, we present a 2-approximation algorithm and examine its worst case ratio bound. Then, a pseudo-polynomial dynamic programming algorithm is de...
متن کاملAn FPTAS for a single-item capacitated economic lot-sizing problem with monotone cost structure
We present a fully polynomial time approximation scheme (FPTAS) for a capacitated economic lot-sizing problem with a monotone cost structure. An FPTAS delivers a solution with a given relative error ε in time polynomial in the problem size and in 1/ε. Such a scheme was developed by van Hoesel and Wagelmans [8] for a capacitated economic lot-sizing problem with monotone concave (convex) producti...
متن کاملSimultaneous Lot Sizing and Scheduling in a Flexible Flow Line
This paper breaks new ground by modelling lot sizing and scheduling in a flexible flow line (FFL) simultaneously instead of separately. This problem, called the ‘General Lot sizing and Scheduling Problem in a Flexible Flow Line’ (GLSP-FFL), optimizes the lot sizing and scheduling of multiple products at multiple stages, each stage having multiple machines in parallel. The objective is to satisf...
متن کاملCapacitated lot sizing models: a literature review
In the present paper, we discuss one of the many processes arising in the context of supply chain management, namely production planning. We focus on one type of production planning models called capacitated lot sizing models. These models appear to be well suited for the usually rather in exible production resources found in the process industries. We review the literature on single-level sing...
متن کاملDevelopment of a novel lot sizing model with variable lead time in supply chain environment
Supply chain management (SCM) addresses the management of materials and information across the entire chain from suppliers to producers, distributors, retailers, and customer. The theory of supply chain management suggests that lead time reduction is a pioneer to the use of market mediation to reduce transaction uncertainty in the chain, which can be conceptualized as the primary goal of supply...
